Montreal

A lot of people are very positive about Montreal so we looked forward to getting there. The first thing we noticed were the roads that are in aweful condition. Bumps, construction works, narrow roads,… It’s not fun to drive around with an RV there. We felt like we were in a blender sometimes. But once we found a decent spot to park, at the casino in the middle of the Formula 1 track, we were ready to give Montreal a shot.

After spending days in the RV (without running water, remember) we felt like we could do something about our hygiene. So we decided to have a swim in the Olympic swimming pool that was used during the summer Olympics in 1976. The facilities looked outdated but very interesting, it breathes history. The chlorine was powerful enough, so after the swim we felt clean again.

The next day we walked through Vieux Montréal. We liked it a lot. Nice buildings, promenades, restaurants and shops. Everybody warned us for the ‘Quebeqois’. People are very sensitive about their language, something we have experience with, being Belgian. But we found that they were really nice. Ok, we didn’t understand a word of their ‘French’ and they didn’t understand us, but still, they spoke English whenever they had to explain something. Kudos for them.

Photo's tell more than a words. We've got useful books and we're in the need of a hairdresser.

In the evening we had diner in Little Italy. The pizza and pasta was good but the restaurant had a bizarre policy. It was a ‘bring your own wine’ place. We didn’t know that and they didn’t have any wine themselves. Their only options were water, coke and 7-up. The pizza was good though.
